Nicol’s Story

“I woke up at eight in the morning because I had to go to work. I work in the mornings.”

“I asked for a few hours off because I had an activity for my university. We have an event this Saturday so we had to attend some workshops where they explained what we have to do. Experts from different countries came; it was interesting. I left the workshop around eleven or twelve.”

“My friends and I went to get some ice cream. Here in my city, Sucre, there’s a well-known place called Vaca Fría – they’re so good. We stayed there for a while, even though I wanted to eat tucumanas.”

“I don’t know, you probably don’t know about them but it’s a food that’s eaten at midday on the streets in Sucre, Bolivia. We also have salteñas.”

“Delicious salteñas.”

“Sucre is a very small city, just to give you an idea. So, you can find everything in the city center, just a few steps away. But anyway, the point is that we ate.”

“I went to my job; a little store in the mornings. Then, at two, I went to my university. I’m studying Commercial Engineering.”

“My classes are in the afternoon. It was a very exhausting day because we had very intense material.”

“Also, last night we had another workshop, but it was for marketing – my major is very focused on digital marketing. So, I attended a workshop related to entrepreneurship for university students or something like that.”

“I stayed there until eight in the evening and then went home.”

“I took English classes. Every night I take English classes through an institute here in my city. I got very frustrated because I didn’t understand a lot. We’re covering more advanced grammar; it’s complicated for me to understand English grammar and tomorrow I have an important exam.”

“So, yesterday I got to studying; I’m advancing in ‘people skills.’ For example: instructor and writing expressions.”

“I don’t even know these structures in Spanish, like the present perfect, present continuous, present progressive. I get it, but still, it kind of confuses me.”

“After that, I went to sleep.”
